How Often to Wash Your Hair By Hair Type

What is temporary hair color?

Temporary hair dye, also called wash out color, doesn’t actually dye the color of your hair strands. Instead, it coats the outside of the hair strand without making it into the inside of your hair’s, which is why it’s temporary. It usually disappears from the hair completely with just a few washes, and the formula doesn’t contain any ammonia or peroxide. As mentioned earlier, temporary hair color makes for an amazing way to play around with fun colors or just try out a totally new hair color without any commitment.

Is temporary dye bad for my hair?

The answer to this question is rather simple and straightforward: absolutely not! There is no possibility of damage when it comes to using temporary hair dye. In fact, temporary hair dye is the only dye you should be using outside of the salon, and without a hair professional’s supervision and help.

How long does it last?

Temporary hair dye does not penetrate the hair strand, so it gets washed out after one or two regular shampoos. This unique feature makes it perfect for a date night and music festivals, but since we are in quarantine and not allowed to attend those, dying your hair a crazy color using a temporary hair dye is going to make the next Zoom meeting interesting and fun.  Keep in mind that there is a catch with temporary hair dye: If you naturally have very light hair, even though it is temporary it might be more permanent then it is for people with naturally darker hair. The lighter the hair and darker the temporary color, the longer it will take the color to wash out. It won’t permanently dye your hair, and it definitely won’t ruin it, but it might alter it for a bit longer than you wished.

How do I remove temporary hair dye from my hair?

Removing it from your hair does not require a unique product or a particular procedure, and is rather easy: all you have to do is wash your hair, business as usual! Just lather and rinse a couple of times, and the temporary color you were trying on is going to disappear down the drain.
